‘sis i cracked my head open’ cannot be easily described by a single genre. Listening to the band feels like a sonic adventure — a kind of narrative with a beginning and a middle, but rarely a clear or concise ending. Despite that, if we had to define the genre, it would be a mixture of progressive rock, fusion, and indie, with harmonic language heavily based on post-bebop jazz, and occasional hints of pop sprinkled throughout. We’re inspired by the life happening around us — the chaos, beauty, and confusion of growing up — and we try to reflect those experiences through sound. We met through high school and started writing music together toward the end of it, finding common ground in the sounds and feelings that shaped us. ‘sis i cracked my head open’ is a five-piece band based in Limassol, Cyprus, consisting of Lara Abouzaide on vocals, Michael Neocleous on electric guitar, Marietta Ieride on viola, Andreas Poyiatziis on bass, and Ioannis Triantafyllou on drums.
