On the cover of New Music Friday Cyprus October 30th is Cypriot singer and drag artist Violetta J’Adore as she joins forces with her music persona THEO for VILLAIN, a dark, theatrical new single blending electropop, hyperpop and rock elements. Produced by Bibz Music, the track embraces the power of defiance, the subversion of fairytale archetypes and the freedom of refusing to play the role others have written for you.
Built around the idea that every story needs an antagonist, VILLAIN challenges the familiar divide between hero and monster. Drawing on fairytale imagery and references to The Wizard of Oz, the song transforms witches, princesses and dragons into symbols of resistance, with sharp, confrontational lyrics that reject manipulation, persecution and imposed expectations.
“Every tale needs a villain,” the song declares, before turning the accusation into a threat: “When this villain awakes, you should run for your lives.”
Rather than pleading for acceptance or attempting to prove their innocence, the voices at the heart of VILLAIN embrace the very identity imposed upon them. The result is an unapologetic statement of self-assertion, delivered through a world of dark theatricality, camp attitude and explosive energy.
At the centre of the release is the relationship between Vasilis Theodoros Kyriakou, the artist behind both Violetta J’Adore and THEO. As a Greek-speaking Cypriot singer and drag artist, Violetta brings a distinctive fusion of performance, character and musical storytelling to her work, while THEO represents another dimension of the same artistic identity. On VILLAIN, both perform as lead vocalists, bringing their voices together to embody the song’s defiant spirit.
The single follows Violetta J’Adore’s debut album, GODDEX, released in March 2026. The album explored the idea of a genderless deity, establishing a world in which identity, transformation and self-expression sit at the heart of the music. With VILLAIN, that theatrical universe takes a darker turn, shifting from divinity to the figure traditionally cast out, feared or misunderstood.
Produced by Bibz Music, VILLAIN brings together an international creative collaboration. The lyrics are credited to THEO, with mixing and mastering by Slim Z (Slim Zuckerz). The cover artwork and titles are by Tamino Archives, with photography by Kriss.
