New Music Friday Cyprus – October 16th

Cemre Arca & The Beez are on the cover of New Music Friday Cyprus with the release of “The Greatest Fiction”

The Famagusta-based band revisits a song years in the making, bringing together progressive rock, psychedelia and influences from across musical traditions.

On 16 October, independent Cypriot band Cemre Arca & The Beez released “The Greatest Fiction”, a progressive rock song shaped by years of musical evolution. Blending psychedelic elements with influences from Cypriot, Mediterranean and Turkish music, alongside classical and other folk traditions, the track moves through an imaginative landscape of shifting textures, memories and unexpected turns.

Written by Cemre Arca many years ago, “The Greatest Fiction” has lived through several different musical projects before finding its current form with The Beez.

The lyrics move between images of nature, memory, connection and desire. Rather than following a linear narrative, they evoke a world in which familiar things continually change shape. The song’s central idea remains deliberately open: is its greatest fiction a creation of the imagination, a way of understanding reality, or something that emerges from the natural world itself?

With Cemre Arca on keys and vocals, Doğaç Uğur Solyalı on electric guitar, Ahmet Cemiler on bass, and Çağdaş Özüşen on drums, the band explores a sound that draws on diverse musical backgrounds without deliberately setting out to reproduce any one tradition. These influences emerge organically through their songwriting, arrangements and performances.

“The Greatest Fiction” was recorded and mixed by Andreas Matheou at Hot Soap Studios in Larnaca and mastered by Mike Hillier at Metropolis Studios.
