Hovig Nassanian, cover star of New Music Friday Cyprus, releases a soulful, jazz-inflected solo piano reimagining of Olivia Dean’s “So Easy (To Fall In Love)” — 6+ weeks at #1 Hot AC, still charting months later. On his YouTube, the cover is the best-performing Short in his entire catalog (20,000+ views). A warm, unhurried reharmonization, not a straight transcription. Extra bonus: the cover artwork is a photo from 22 years ago – my wife Anna and I in Northern Sweden, the year we got married. Still in love!
Stefanos Oxinos, on the cover of just cypriot hits, releases a new progressive psytrance track “Amor Fati”. The track reflects an artistic exploration of what progressive could sound like, with an emphasis on melodic, cinematic and unconventional sound design elements. The phrase Amor Fati is Latin for “love your fate”, or “love one’s destiny”.
On the covers:
Electronic: Nowa
Folk: Lefteris Moumtzis/Freedom Candlemaker & Nama Dama
Rap/Hip-hop: x.ypno
just cypriot hits: Stefanos Oxinos
Made In Cyprus: TOP BOY
