Hirta and Lighthouse are two consecutive singles about a journey. Hirta is inspired by the remote island archipelago of St Kilda, one of the most isolated places I’ve ever travelled to. Reaching it was one of the most challenging journeys I’ve experienced, but the island itself felt almost unreal, magical in its silence and distance. Lighthouse continues that journey from a more fragile place. Now in Cyprus, again in the midst of the sea but on another island, and caught between uncertainties, the song became about searching for light when direction starts to disappear. Cemre Arca & The Beez are joined by Erhan Aytaç on violin, Mehmet Acemoğlu on trombone and Nurtane Karagil on illustrations. – Cemre Arca on their new release
